In conjunction with the celebration of Vesak Day on 24 May 2013, the Pure Land Learning College Association had been invited to share with UNESCO ambassadors and other delegates the 'Vision of Helping Toowoomba Become a Model City of Peace and Harmony' at UNESCO Headquarters.

There were many excellent recommendations from the two dialogue circles at the recent Peace Education Forum. We reflect on some of the recommendations in the newsletter.

The meditation class for beginners led by Venerable We Chyuan commenced on 2 February. The response was overwhelming and it was an experiential learning for many. In addition, we celebrated Chinese New Year reunion dinner with the community. It was a fun and entertaining night with our special guests.

Welcome Year of the Snake! Celebrations for Chinese New Year, lasting a full fifteen days, start on the 10 February 2013. The presence of the ancestors is acknowledged on Chinese New Year's Eve with a reunion dinner.

Venerable Master Chin Kung and the Pure Land family wish all members of the community and their families best wishes for 2013. Let us work together to help make the dream of making Toowoomba a model city of peace and harmony a reality.

淨空自出家以來，一直全心致力于佛陀教育講經教學工作。遵依老師看破放下的教誨，淡泊名利，迄今未掛任何宗教部門的頭銜。在年屆耄耋之齡，更無意參加在國內外舉辦的任何形式的宗教活動，或謀求任何宗教名譽的頭銜。亦絕無委派任何四眾弟子化緣募款之事。

李公諱豔，字炳南，號雪廬，法號德明，姓李氏，祖籍山東濟南。（一八九Ο）即清光緒十六年，臘月七日，誕於斯。尊人壽村公，好禮尚義，教有義方。公自幼穎悟好學，諸經子史，循次讀誦。後兼學中國醫學，又好劍術，而於詩文興趣尤濃。迨研究佛學，教、禪、密、淨，皆嘗修持，最後則歸於淨業。
